BECOME A PIE Midland VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. Partners can choose to donate their time through Partners in Education to tutor students in three areas: Reading, Math, or Science or serve as a Very Important Partners for a specific grade level. Tutors are asked to specify a grade level range – Elementary, Junior High or High School – and VIP’s are asked to choose a K-12 grade. The Partners in Education Programs Director will match the volunteer with the best school and classroom based on those preferences. All volunteers must agree to a allow MISD to run a background investigation prior to serving in schools.
BECOME A PIE MIDLAND MENTOR
Partners can take their volunteerism to the next level by committing to mentoring a youth in any grade level K-12. Mentors are expected to spend no less than four hours a month with their youth for a minimum of one year. Mentors also must allow MISD to run a criminal background check before becoming a child’s mentor. The Mentoring Experience is one that our Partners find most rewarding to the student and to the Mentor. Mentors are in great need in our schools and we encourage Partners and business owners to support Volunteers and Mentors in the workplace.
